I’m Lucky Butt Larry, rub my butt for luck

It’s Kidd’s Kids Day!!  Today is the day that we dedicate to raising money for our annual Kidd’s Kids trip – we’ll do a lot of our normal stuff, like the Hizzle, Showbiz and teasing Big Al about having the herp – and we’ll talk to DJs from our stations across the country who are helping us raise money for Kidd’s Kids – like Lucky Larry in Tyler Texas!  And fyi, the whole show is a Mascara Alert – but in a good way – so just be ready!!!

HIZZLE

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson got married in Canada so they could experience nature with their guests

Kim Kardashian cried after getting kicked off Dancing with the Stars

Britney’s cousin, Alli, is not allowed to talk to Britney

Lauren Conrad’s clothing line bites the big one

THE BREWER FAMILY

Krista Brewer (who in my mind will forever be known as the Popcorn Girl) lost her battle with cancer just a few short weeks ago – Krista’s mom (Janice), her sister (Shelby) and her grandma (Nana) all came in this morning to talk a little about Krista and what the trip meant to their family – Janice said that the trip allowed Krista to truly be herself and that she was finally able to see Krista without any fear – Krista felt like she was in a safe place at Disney –  at Disney there are no needles, no medicine, no one interrupting her sleep like at the hospital – she was able to just be a kid – Janice said that if every parent could just spend one day at the 6th floor of the hospital – they would make sure that every kid could go to Disney – Janice believes that Krista is an angel now and that angel’s are messengers – we still have a lot to learn from Krista – she has been an inspiration to so many and has touched more lives than we will ever know!!  check out Krista’s story at kristabrewer.com

7-11 BABY!!!

This month, 7-11 is donating 10 cents from every Slurpee to Kidd’s Kids – and guess who made the banner – Krista Brewer!!  The picture is from Krista at Disney (hence the face painting!) and she’s wearing a t-shirt her mom made that says “Bald and Beautiful” – Janice said that she hated that t-shirt – but I bet it’s not so bad now that it got her on a the banner!!

MARCOS!!!

J Si went to go visit Marcos – Marcos was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when he was 3 years old – his dad, Alfredo, is a retired police officer but had to go back to work to pay for their medical bills – Marcos’ mom Julie said that in a lot of ways Marcos is a typical 11 year old but a day in his life is a lot different than the norm – Marcos takes  9 pills a day, 2 breathing treatments, he has to wear a shaking vest that loosens up his lungs to help get the mucous out – he takes a ton of vitamins and is currently on a new antibiotic – Marcos’ mom remembers what it was like to be on the other side because before Marcos got sick, she gave to Kidd’s Kids – now she knows the Holland story first hand

WELCOME TO HOLLAND

by Emily Perl Kingsley

I am often asked to describe the experience of raising a child with a disability – to try to help people who have not shared that unique experience to understand it, to imagine how it would feel. It’s like this……

When you’re going to have a baby, it’s like planning a fabulous vacation trip – to Italy. You buy a bunch of guide books and make your wonderful plans. The Coliseum. The Michelangelo David. The gondolas in Venice. You may learn some handy phrases in Italian. It’s all very exciting.

After months of eager anticipation, the day finally arrives. You pack your bags and off you go. Several hours later, the plane lands. The stewardess comes in and says, “Welcome to Holland.”

“Holland?!?” you say. “What do you mean Holland?? I signed up for Italy! I’m supposed to be in Italy. All my life I’ve dreamed of going to Italy.”

But there’s been a change in the flight plan. They’ve landed in Holland and there you must stay.

The important thing is that they haven’t taken you to a horrible, disgusting, filthy place, full of pestilence, famine and disease. It’s just a different place.

So you must go out and buy new guide books. And you must learn a whole new language. And you will meet a whole new group of people you would never have met.

It’s just a different place. It’s slower-paced than Italy, less flashy than Italy. But after you’ve been there for a while and you catch your breath, you look around…. and you begin to notice that Holland has windmills….and Holland has tulips. Holland even has Rembrandts.

But everyone you know is busy coming and going from Italy… and they’re all bragging about what a wonderful time they had there. And for the rest of your life, you will say “Yes, that’s where I was supposed to go. That’s what I had planned.”

And the pain of that will never, ever, ever, ever go away… because the loss of that dream is a very very significant loss.

But… if you spend your life mourning the fact that you didn’t get to Italy, you may never be free to enjoy the very special, the very lovely things … about Holland.

TREY’S LAW

Trey was a Kidd’s Kid that had Shaken Baby Syndrome – he was shaken by a day care worker when he was only 10 weeks old – I can’t imagine how I would feel if someone did that to Sydney, but I can imagine I would be just as angry as Trey’s mom, Melanie was – but after the trip, Melanie started to see things in a different light – instead of being mad at the world, Melanie decided to take action – she went to the state capital and lobbied for an extension of the statute of limitations – see, by the time they were able to determine what was wrong with Trey, the guy that hurt him could no longer be prosecuted because the statute of limitations had expired – but because of the trip, Melanie’s perspective completely changed and she was able to take what happened to Trey and make a change

USING KIDD’S KIDS FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL

A listener in Midland sent us an email and wanted to shout out to the police officer that let her off today with a warning this morning – she was crying listening to the story about Marcos and happened to be speeding a little bit – she had to explain that she wasn’t crying because she was trying to get out of the ticket (like Kidd would think) but because she was listening to Kidd’s Kids – she told the officer that she donates every year and that if she had to pay for the speeding ticket, he would be taking away her Kidd’s Kids donation – so he gave her a warning and she gets to help send a family to Disney – way to go Sheila – that’s what we call Good Looking Out!

SHOWBIZ TOP 5

#5 – There’s a new lineup for Celebrity Apprentice and it includes Brian McKnight, Tom Green and Khloe Kardashian

#4 – David Archuleta is making his acting debut on iCarly on Nickelodeon

#3 – Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen could be getting married

#2 – Diddy may be firing 2 of the girls from Danity Kane

#1 – Adnan Ghalib says there is no sex tape

AND NOBODY’S TELLING ME TO GO TO BED AT 9 O’CLOCK

Big Al went to see Kendall to tell her that she’s going on the trip this year – Kendall is 7 years old and has Cystic Fibrosis – her dad made a huge sacrifice for their family by taking the highest paying job he could find – the problem was the job was in Iraq – he could only come home once every 4 months and had to pay long distance fees of 29 cents a minute – but he called home every single day – the trip is going to be their very first family vacation and Kendall’s first time on a plane!!

CHERRY DELGADO’S FAMILY

Cherry Delgado’s mom and brother came in to share what the trip meant to the m – Kidd had hilarious audio from when he and Cherry went on the Disney ride, Everest – Kidd tried to scare Cherry about the ride but she was having none of that – you could hear the “good luck with all that Kidd Kraddick” tone in her voice – Cherry was fearless!  Cherry’s mom said that Cherry hid her pain and how sick she was because she always put everyone ahead of herself – Cherry lost her battle with Lupus 2 days after Christmas

WHAT DOES IT COST TO SEND A FAMILY TO DISNEY

When I was on the phones, i would get lots of questions on Kidd’s Kids Day – but the question I got the most was “what does it cost to send a family to Disney?” – but because most people can’t afford to donate enough to send an entire family, instead I’m going to tell you how your average $5 or $10 donation can help – we do the trip totally first class – we don’t scrimp at all and we pay for everything – the flight, accommodations, meals, souvenirs – everything!!

One night at the Swan and Dolphin hotel is $550

One Park Pass is roughly $200

A Princess Makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is $50

Wheelchair rental for one day is $45

A Mickey or Minnie Costume is $40

Character Breakfast with the Disney characters is $22

A Disney autograph book is $13

A Mickey Mouse T-Shirt is $10

A cheeseburger and ice cream dinner is $8

Face painting is $7

A Lion King Key Chain is $5

Cotton Candy is $3

This is just a small sampling of the things we provide to the kids on the trip – it’s the trip of a lifetime and we want these kids to have the best experience possible – so please don’t think that your “little” donation won’t make a difference – every single dollar counts!!!

  4. If that’s the circumstance, considering the other used caravan that you can buy could do the job.
 The metal frame has rubber pads, to prevent your caravan from being scratched.
This form of policy covers caravans that
are towed behind cars on the road on their way with a campsite.
